May our flowering surprise us...

May Day!

Growing up in Iowa … early May 1st morning … filling little construction paper baskets … flowers, cookies, candies, notes … sneaking ever so quietly up to my friends’ front doors … gently placing my loving surprise down … giggle, giggle … ring the doorbell … RUN!!!!!

I loved that! Wonder if and where it’s still done?

May Day!
It’s storming and flooding here as I write. Nearby communities are still reeling from last week’s tornadoes and low-level earthquakes here in central Arkansas have been occurring regularly with the hydraulic fracturing that comes with natural gas drilling. Current plans include drilling under the lake that provides our community water supply.

Your community undoubtedly faces its own environmental challenges too. Of course, ultimately, we are one big world community with shared air and oceans, dealing with increasingly erratic weather, and ever greater signs all around of an imperative to change our ways … or jump ship. Mayday!

May Day!
Springtime in Germany taught me about the May 1st observance by laborers in many countries. Having lived in Madison and now with both siblings in Wisconsin, I’ve watched the escalation around workers’ rights there … while uprisings in eastern countries for basic human rights continue to mount.

Like a global weather shift, it appears there’s something brand new in the air … strong winds alongside a growing fragrance … a new blossoming underway … an awakening to our essential birthright … a rising up into awareness of something seeded within, released now in just the right conditions … the long-awaited unfurling of our deeper essences … as if the bell has sounded … calling us to open up … meet the unknown at the door … smile through the mystery …

Day of May

On this Day,
May we have the courage and foresight to let go of what we know can’t continue
May we have eyes and hearts to see and know the new ways forward
May we choose Life!
May we be open to the surprises awaiting us …

Abundant springtime blessings,
Pamela
